Of an uncommonly large size, Berrick was suspected by many to be some kind of half-breed, with the smart money on orc or giant heritage. Whatever the source of his prodigious strength, Berrick used it to great effect with his oversized maul, ending many conflicts before they began through intimidation and fear.
This beast of a man arrived in Kestral from parts unknown (most likely northern Releria) and organized a band of cutpurses and thugs in the Northshore district, unwisely doing so without affiliation with the The Laughing Man or the local Thieves’ Guild. Commanding loyalty from his men through physical intimidation and animal cunning, Berrick formed a quick partnership with Squint a local Sorcerer, and met with fair success before getting himself into trouble.
Berrick stole an object of great importance from a slumming nobleman, Conor Damilus, who raised a big enough ruckus that the City Guard got a band of mercenaries together to get it back. Through their investigation, the party interviewed Dunphy, an agent of the Thieves’ Guild who advised that the Guild would be appreciative if the big man was put out of business.
The party of adventurers tracked Berrick to the Griffon’s Rest Inn, where he was trying to sell the stolen goods to a mysterious figure (later revealed to be Treynal Merinden). He attacked the party and was killed by Vashara Le’Sheen, but not before causing serious property damage and nearly killing Kaneda.
